against total expenses of $95,878.28. The net income for the period was $710.57. The parish also
received restricted operating income in the amount of $30,800.
Mr. Ragsdale moved that the Vestry adopt the financial report, as presented. Mr. F. Biltz seconded.
Passed by voice vote without any opposition.
IV. Fr. Monk presented the following report:
a. Schedule
The remainder of April and May are going to be busy times for me. I have two trips to Nashotah in the
coming weeks. I will be there this Wednesday through Friday (May 9-11), and again May 20 through
May 25.
I will be taking the weekend off June 15-18. Fr. Herrmann will be our supply priest that weekend.
In lieu of some of my sabbatical time that I was supposed to take this summer, I will be observing the
following schedule for June, July, and the beginning of August:
-off on Monday

-1/2 day on Tuesday
-full Wednesday and Thursday
-off Friday
All is subject to change based on needs of the Church
b. Personnel
As of Friday, May 4, Tony Johnston is no longer employed by the Church.
c. Diocese of Dallas
Fr. Monk noted the oddity of a situation with a refund from the Diocese of Dallas.
d. Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School will be held June 18-22, from 9:30 to 12:00, at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
e. Insurance and Benefits
Some already know that Virginia has been hired to become the Director of the Texas A&M Commerce
Partnership at Navarro College. She began this new, full-time appointment May 1.
Part of the incentive for taking this position is the benefits package offered by the Texas A&M system
to its employees.
Under the Texas A&M benefits package we can purchase BCBS PPO Health Insurance, Dental, Vision,
and fund an HSA at the maximum of $2600 (for those with this kind of insurance) for approximately
$10,000 per year. (The insurance cost is $616.00 per month for all three).
The Church is obligated to provide my family insurance policies per the policies of the Church and
Diocese.
Currently, we have $12,000 per year budgeted for health insurance, and $1,800 for dental (because I
opted out of Church insurance many years ago). If we were with Church insurance, our minimum
yearly premium would be $21,600 for health insurance alone.
My proposal is that we will agree that I should be reimbursed for the health care costs, up to $10,000
per year.
f. New Habitat Person
Virginia’s new job also means that Habitat for Humanity will be looking for their second ever employee.
She has been the only employee for 10 years. The Habitat office is very integrated into the Saint John’s

office, so I am keenly aware that the Habitat employee has to fit into our system. I will be on the hiring
committee for the new position and will do my best to ensure a good fit.
V. Liaison Reports:
a. Communications: Mrs. Veldman reported that she had been asked to about notes to the
congregation summarizing Vestry meetings. The Vestry concurred that this was a good idea. She will
work on this. She will also check on the status of the information in the paper, and see about updating
it. Fr. Monk spoke about the website, and some difficulties in reobtaining our domain name.
b. Inreach: In Mrs. Kingman’s absence, Mrs. Veldman asked the Vestry to see if they could help with
some meals for the Douglass and Kirkpatrick families.
c. Outreach: Dr. O’Neal commented extensively on the development of car window decals for the
Church. The design process is ongoing. She discussed the success with smoke alarm installation by
Jonathan Towles and Brian Johnston. The first Sunday in June will bring a family movie night showing of
a Harry Potter movie. She referenced an offer made by Fr. Morriss to cook a Nicaraguan meal for the
parish and to talk about the work of Food for the Poor in Nicaragua. She concluded by speaking about
the Lay Eucharistic Visitor program.

f. Buildings and Grounds: Mr. Ragsdale had no report, except to note that we had a new dishwasher
ready to install. Fr. Monk asked Mr. Ragsdale to look at the birds’ nests accumulating outside the north

been done in the kitchen.

h. Stewardship: Ms. Johnson had no report except to say that she was working on her own stewardship
in order to lead a stewardship drive.

that need to be taken in order to move the choir across the street into the 417 W. Collin building. The
need to better coordinate the times of choir practices and other parish events was discussed.
